Jesus = Peace?
I saw a bumper sticker today that said “All we need to find peace is to know Jesus”
Really? Is that true? Or is it “All we need to find peace is to know Jesus, my Jesus, not yours, exactly as I see him, cause you’re all wrong”. This person was one of those people that belong to the group that believes all it takes to have peace is simply to know Jesus, or rather a group of ignorant possibly lazy people.
That sounds harsh, but the way I see it the majority of fighting, war, and death can be traced back to differing opinions of Jesus, God and all that jazz. Unfortunately I don’t think the answer is simply that we need to get rid of religion and wish it didnt exist. That wouldn’t solve the problem.
If there was no such thing as a bible, and no idea such as God to strike fear in people, society and the world would probably collapse. Why? Because of the people that only have “good morals” because they fear the whole hell thing. If there were no fear of God and his existence was completely accepted as false then all of these people that are only good because of this fear would just go on rampages.
They don’t care so much about the Government as law, just the lords law. Now some of these people following the Lords law are actually great people, and its just the crazies that give the simple believes their bad name. That how most things fall into place though, and it will always be that way.
Those that do only follow laws for their fear of hell are just lying to themseleves. They think themselves as having “great morals” but really great morals are morals that exist naturally, not solely in effect because of the fear of what would happen if the morals are broken.
What is the point of this rant?
Not sure, but I do think religion is a bigger cause of disruption, rather than a source for peace.
So I’m going to go with the basis of Buddhism.
